Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby Race Preparation
Baby Bear is in Boy Scouts and is a Webelo. Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby for Baby Bear's Pack was last night and Saturday is the District Pinewood Derby where all the Packs come to race. I picked out two pictures of Baby Bear and Papa Bear preparing Baby Bear's car for the derby. They are given a kit with a block of wood and have to build a car out of it. They put weights on it.. but it can only weigh a certain amount. When they go to the race they race down a track. They have a lot of rules and regulations and it is really fun to watch. Everyone really gets into this. Last night at his Pack race he came in 2nd place. He received a knife for this. His friend came in 1rst place.
Tomorrow is the final race with all packs coming together to race. I plan on taking lots of pictures. Congratulations Baby Bear on coming in 2nd place at your Pack Race!

Congratulations Baby Bear on your 2nd place win...and Good Luck on Saturday.
That looks like a mighty big saw Baby Bear is wheeling around there. That race & building of a car are something that Papa Bear & Baby Bear can do together. A great bonding of father & son...and a great memory making event.
Mama Bear...this blogging is a great way to keep a journal, along with pictures, of the events in Baby Bears life...in fact, ALL the bears lives. You're doing a fantastic job!
Oh my gosh...I almost forgot to say what wonderful pictures that you have posted here.
The Bears really look busy.
And do you have to be at the race at daybreak again this year?
Congrats to all the Bears for scouting, Pinewood Derby cars, togetherness, family outings, and father-son projects. Our son was also a Boy Scout and participated in several Pinewood Derbies (we still have his two and Alipurr's one cars put away). Yes, they are great fun. Our Pack also has turtle races. If you don't have these, ask me and I will tell you all about them.
Good luck, Baby Bear, in your upcoming race tomorrow. A second-place victory is absolutely great. You must have built a sleek, fast car to win like that. We used to glue quarters on the bottoms of the cars to get the correct weights. What did you use?
Hope you have fun tomorrow! Mom, great post and great pictures. We enjoyed a nostalgic look back at scouting at its best.
Thank you AIP and Motherkitty for the well wishes tomorrow and the congrats. I will pass this along to Baby Bear.
Yes AIP we have to leave pretty early to get there (early for us that is) VBS.
Motherkitty, Papa Bear said he uses lead weights. He drills them into the bottom of the car. This is a great thing to be in we enjoy it. I am not sure if we have turtle races or not. What are they?
If we do we don't know about them.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Mama Bear
When our son was in the Scouts we created three Pinewood Derby cars. One one year and two the next, one for each child (girl and boy cars).
Congratulation on your win.
I'll be at the school at 11:30am...Jimmy is fixing my breakfast so I won't go hungry.*LOL*
SEE YOU THERE and turn on your cell phone in case we get separated.
Thanks Tomas, I also seen the cars you have on your blog they were nice. Thanks for stopping by.
AIP, Glad you are going with us, it will be fun!
